About Me

“Music is not a thing at all, but an activity, something that people do”

— Christopher Small

I’m a musician who’s interested in music from every angle: how it’s made, how it’s shared, and how it brings people together. My work spans composition, percussion, music librarianship, and engraving, and I feel most at home in spaces where many roles meet.

I believe music isn’t just something we make or listen to, but something we actively participate in. Its value lies in how it communicates and elicits a response from everyone involved, whether that’s a new emotion in the performer or a new idea in the listener.

I grew up in a household of music, from classic rock to Broadway, and was pulled toward music early on, drawn not just to sound itself, but to how music is made, shared, organized, and brought to life by people working together. That curiosity has shaped a path that’s been less about choosing a single lane and more about learning how different parts of the musical world connect – and how I can be part of it, both contributing and receiving.

I earned my Bachelor of Music in Composition from the University of Puget Sound in Washington, where my studies as a composer and my role as percussion section leader reaffirmed my commitment to this art. I’m currently based in Boston, where I’m pursuing a Master of Music in Composition at the New England Conservatory while remaining actively engaged as a performer and music librarian.

Alongside composing and performing, I’ve worked extensively in music libraries, supporting ensembles, administration, and conductors through thoughtful preparation and clear communication. I love the behind-the-scenes work that makes performances stronger, whether that’s preparing parts, engraving scores, or helping a large organization function just a little more gracefully.

At the core of everything I do is a genuine love for music and the people who care deeply about it. I’m energized by collaborative environments and communities where enthusiasm is shared and curiosity is encouraged. I take the work seriously, but I also believe music should be deeply human – full of joy and sorrow, laughter and intensity, serenity and fire – and that none of that should be lost to routine or expectation.

This site reflects the many ways I engage with music – thank you for checking it out, and please feel free to reach out anytime!
